What to expect
Your initial consultation will be 90 minutes, this includes a 60 minute acupuncture session. Below I explain step-by-step what happens when we meet for the first time.
-
You can book an appointment either online or by calling the clinic.
-
Before your appointment, you will need to complete an initial intake form detailing your medical history, current health concerns, and any medications or supplements you are taking.
-
Upon arrival, you are welcomed by myself and escorted to the consultation room.
-
During the initial consultation, I sit down with you to discuss your health concerns in detail. This involves a detailed intake form and questions about your symptoms, medical history, lifestyle, and any other relevant factors.
-
I conduct a thorough assessment, which include examining your tongue, pulse, and other diagnostic techniques from traditional Chinese medicine to understand your overall health condition.
-
I explain the principles of acupuncture, how it works, and what you can expect during the treatment process. This helps alleviate any apprehensions you may have.
-
Based on the assessment and discussion, I develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs and health goals. This may involve a series of acupuncture sessions along with other complementary therapies if needed.
-
I encourage my patients to ask any questions or express concerns they may have about the treatment plan or acupuncture in general.
-
Before starting any treatment, I make sure you fully understand the proposed plan, including its potential risks and benefits, and provide you with the opportunity to give informed consent.
During the consulation
During the treatment session
-
you are escorted to the treatment room and asked to change into comfortable clothing, if necessary.
-
You are comfortably positioned on the treatment table, either lying down or sitting, depending on the treatment area.
-
I gently insert sterilized, hair-thin acupuncture needles into specific points on the body according to the treatment plan. You may experience a slight sensation during insertion, but it is generally painless.
-
Once all needles are inserted, you relax and remain in the position for a specified duration, typically around 20-30 minutes.
-
Throughout the treatment session, I monitor your comfort level and adjust the needles if needed.
-
After the designated time, I carefully remove the needles, ensuring minimal discomfort.
-
Following the treatment, I discuss any sensations or experiences you may have had during the session and address any questions or concerns you may have.
-
I provide you with aftercare instructions, which may include suggestions for self-care practices, lifestyle modifications, or additional therapies to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment.
-
Schedule the next appointment based on the recommended treatment plan and the your availability.
